DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES $5400 IN CELEBRATE CANADA FUNDING FOR EVENTS IN HALIBURTON COUNTY

HALIBURTON COUNTY - Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, is pleased to announce a total of $5400 for three separate Celebrate Canada projects in Haliburton County.

The successful applicants are:

The Township of Minden Hills - $3400.00;
The West Guilford Community Centre - $1,500.00 and;
Gooderham Community Action Group - $500.00

The money will be used to help cover some of the costs of each recipient’s Canada Day celebrations. All three events include such things as children’s activities, live entertainment and fireworks.

“Celebrate Canada activities have become a tradition offering Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in their country,” said Devolin. “The success of these events is due, in great part, to the volunteer members who work tirelessly to ensure each Canadian has an opportunity to enjoy local celebrations.”

“I’d like to thank all the volunteers and municipal staff for their hard work on submitting successful funding applications,” stated Devolin. “Having the opportunity to thank people for their hard work and commitment to making our communities better is one of the most rewarding things that I do as your MP.”

“Canada Day is an opportunity to gather in our communities, from coast to coast to coast, and to proudly celebrate all we have in common,” said Devolin.
