“DEVOLIN CELEBRATES THE COMPLETION OF WORK ON THREE BRIDGES IN BROCK TOWNSHIP ”

CANNINGTON — Local MP Barry Devolin joined MPP Laurie Scott, Mayor Larry O’Connor and Brock Township Council to mark the completion of the replacement of the Gibbs No. 2, Argue and Thorah Sideroad No. 36 bridges.  The funding was part of the Canada-Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (COMRIF).

Work on Gibbs Bridge No. 2 and the Argue Bridge included the replacement of all defective structural components and the elimination of the current loading restrictions.

The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario each committed up to $316,667. The Township of Brock committed the balance of the project’s total eligible cost of $950,000.

Work on Thorah Sideroad Bridge No. 36 included replacement of the existing bridge with a structural bridge-plate culvert and elimination of the current loading restrictions. The Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario each committed up to $111,604. The Township of Brock committed the balance of the project’s total eligible cost of $334,813.

“The Government of Canada is pleased to have been a partner in the replacement of these three vital bridges in the Township of Brock ,” said Devolin. “The improvements made to these connecting routes will have a positive impact on the overall quality of life of the individuals and families that live here.”

“These bridges are part of an important transportation network within our community,” said Mayor O’Connor. “The Township of Brock is very pleased that together with the federal and provincial governments, we were able to make these upgrades a reality.”
