DEVOLIN CELEBRATES THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE TIMOTHY FINDLEY MEMORIAL LIBRARY IN CANNINGTON

CANNINGTON - Local MP Barry Devolin joined Joe Allin, Chair of the Brock Township Public Library; Terry Clayton, Mayor of Brock Township; and community members to celebrate the official opening of the Timothy Findley Memorial Branch of the Brock Township Public Library.

This third branch of Brock Township’s Public Library network will support a culture of literacy and lifelong learning for people of all ages in Cannington. With a focus on technology and innovation, the new library will house a broad range of information, resources and tools that will serve the needs of residents and the local business community.

The Government of Canada has contributed up to $1,405,000 to expand the existing facility by equipping it with up-to-date technology, through the Community Adjustment Fund, delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

"This library will be a tremendous resource for young people and families, and will contribute greatly to the cultural, social and economic strengths of our region," said Devolin. "Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, we are creating jobs, investing in communities and improving the quality of life for residents living here and across the country."

"The Brock Township Public Library Board has expressed its deep appreciation to the federal government and in particular to the Township of Brock for its ongoing support, funding and assistance in the pursuit of this project," said Rona O’Banion, CEO of the Brock Township Public Library.

FedDev Ontario was created as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to support businesses and communities in southern Ontario. Now in its third year of operation, the Agency has launched a number of initiatives to create a Southern Ontario Advantage and place the region in a strong position to compete in the global economy.
