DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES $29,000 FOR BEAVERTON’S 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

BEAVERTON – Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $29,000 for Beaverton’s 125th Anniversary Celebration.

The money was approved through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program and will be used to help cover the costs of the four day weekend celebration of Beaverton’s anniversary taking place July 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th.

“Our Government is proud to support Beaverton 125th anniversary weekend,” said Devolin. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”

“The funding from Canadian Heritage has helped us commemorate the 125th anniversary of Beaverton with such activities as interactive exhibits, live entertainment and a parade,” said Paula Warder, Chair of the Beaverton 125th Anniversary Committee. “It has been over three years of preparation and I’d like to thank all the volunteers who helped get this weekend ready for all to enjoy.”

“This landmark anniversary is an occasion to bring area residents together to foster community pride and celebrate local history and heritage,” said Devolin. “The Government of Canada is proud to support such an important occasion in the history of Brock Township.”

The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
