DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES $20,000 FOR THE LINDSAY CONCERT
FOUNDATION
LINDSAY – Local MP Barry Devolin on behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $20,000 for the Lindsay Concert Foundation (LCF).
The money was made possible by a grant through the Arts Presentation Canada program and will assist the LCF to present its year round series of classical music concerts,
artist-led workshops and master classes, children's performing arts shows, and community concerts in Lindsay.
“I am delighted that this funding will benefit local events and arts presentations,” said Devolin. “With financial support available for activities and events, organizers and volunteers are showing their dedication to expressing, celebrating, and preserving local culture through arts and heritage activities.”
"We’re grateful the federal government is supporting the LCF. Without this type of support and funding, Canadian international professional artists would be unable to perform in rural communities and in turn be unable to make a connection with music lovers and citizens within the Kawartha region,” said Valerie McElravy, President of the LCF. “We feel the LCF contributes significantly to the diversity of artistic choices in its region by offering local communities a high quality programming that features culturally diverse artists from other Canadian provinces and territories”
"Our Government is committed to the arts and culture and to ensuring that all Canadians have direct access to artistic experiences," said Devolin. "I commend these organizations on the remarkable work they do in bringing arts and cultural activities to Kawartha Lakes."
