DEVOLIN ANNOUNCES OVER $6.4 MILLION FOR INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS IN HALIBURTON COUNTY
HALIBURTON – Local MP Barry Devolin, on behalf of the Honourable John Baird, Canada’s Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Minister, and the Honourable George Smitherman, Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, today announced a total of $6,458,598 million for four separate infrastructure projects across Haliburton County.
Communities across Ontario will benefit from joint federal-provincial investments in public infrastructure of close to $1 billion. The funding announced today will enable over 200 infrastructure projects to break ground in Ontario creating jobs when the need for economic stimulus is greatest.

Local Road Infrastructure
Dysart et al – Pine Lake Bridge Replacement
Total Cost: $862,149
Local Road Infrastructure
Haliburton County – County Road 21 and Allsaw Bridge
Total Cost: $2,629,998
Water Infrastructure
Township of Minden Hills – Minden Elevated Storage Tank
Total Cost: $2,406,249
Regional and Local Airports
Township of Algonquin Highlands – Stanhope Airport
Total Cost: $3,789,501
“This announcement is the result of many months of hard work, research and development put forward by municipal, provincial and federal governments,” said Devolin. “In the midst of economic uncertainty, these strategic investments show that our government is taking quick and robust action to boost our economy and help create a better future for Ontarians as well as Canadians.”
“We’re creating jobs for families and making our communities stronger by investing in infrastructure in rural Ontario, said Leona Dombrowsky, Ontario Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “This is another example of how the McGuinty government is keeping Ontario moving with targeted investments that matter to people in their everyday lives.”
Under the Communities Component of Building Canada, the federal and provincial governments provide up to two-thirds of the funding while the successful municipalities contribute the remaining one third of the eligible project costs.
